Three Spots in Amarillo to Spice Up Date Night
Tired of the same old, “dinner and a movie” every Friday night? Amarillo has a ton of fun ideas to get out of your date night rut that won’t break the bank. Here’s a few ideas:
Esquire Jazz Club
Esquire isn’t just any old club. Open Wednesday-Saturday, Esquire plays exclusively jazz, a refreshing change from the typical bar-scene music. They also guarantee small and big band live music and 4 pm-7 pm happy hour every night they are open (and extended 4pm-11pm happy hour on Wednesdays!). Finally, for those of you looking to get onto the dance floor, the jazz club offers $5 per-person dance lessons Friday and Saturday night!
Art Nights
Amarillo has numerous artists who offer scheduled group classes you can purchase tickets for. Ranging anywhere from $15-$40 per ticket, the crafts vary greatly, and classes offered are constantly rotating. A few classes offered by local Studio3313 this month include the creation of succulent boxes on July 18 ($24/ticket), wood door hangers July 20 ($20/ticket), Moonlight on Wood July 24 ($25/ticket), and candles July 26 ($35/ticket). Sometimes these events include wine in the ticket price, and others might suggest that you BYOB. Make sure to double check rules before your class, and happy crafting!
First Friday Art Walk
This date night might take a bit more planning, as it only happens once a month, but that planning will be worth it. As the title states, the event happens on the first Friday of every month at The Galleries at Sunset Center on Plains and runs from 5 pm to 9 pm. All or most of the 46 galleries in the center will be open, and you can chat with the artists, ask questions, enjoy free wine and finger food, and even purchase a new piece if something catches your eye. Plus, enjoy live music as you tour the exhibits!
