We've got a lot of haunted houses (the ones with actors and props) to visit this Halloween. Over the years, we've seen several come and go.

Check out these Amarillo Haunts. Some still going, some lost to Halloweens past.

Beneath Hangar 13

It's crazy to think about, but 2009 was 13 years ago. That was when this video was taken.

This haunt has it all; vampires, a bird-man, a creepy TV playing static decorated in a bloody hand print. There's a lot to love here.

The Big Boo

Remember this one? This was the haunted house at The Big Texan. Big Texan...Big Boo...get it?

This video was shot in 2009. Another trip back over a decade to see what was haunting our weekends around Halloween. In the comment section of the video, several people point out that The Big Boo became Farmageddon. The commenter said it was, "amazing."

Center City Mayhem

Remember Center City Mayhem? It was put on by the AAYC. The haunt was used as a fundraising opportunity.

I've tried going to the website, and all I get is what appears to be a foreign online casino.

Kasper's Kastle

AAYC strikes again. This time, though, they set out to do something that no one else was really trying to do. This haunt was designed for the little ones. The video shows young kids and even toddlers going through the "haunt."

I honestly would love to take my littlest one to something like this.

This video was shot in '09 as well. What was happening in Amarillo in 2009? It seems like there were haunted attractions everywhere you looked.

The good news is that there are several haunted attractions in Amarillo this year. You can check out our list here. We even have a map for you.

A Look Inside the Abandoned St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, Texas

The old St. Anthony's hospital in Amarillo, Texas has sat abandoned--but not forgotten--since the early 2000s. The 100-year-old structure still cuts an imposing and impressive figure against the Amarillo skyline. The building serves as a cornerstone memory for many Amarillo natives--the place where life begun (or came to an end).

But for decades, the old St. Anthony's hospital has remained under careful surveillance, and not many know what now lies within. In July 2021, local artist and photographer, Ian Watson, was granted full access to the abandoned hospital--his photos offer an intimate and stark look at the legendary landmark of St. Anthony's as it stands now.
