If you like to paint or want to learn some extra skills plus you enjoy West Texas scenery, you are going to enjoy a workshop series being put on by the Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department.

The West Texas Series Painting Workshop is a collection of four artworks that are inspired by the plant life, wildlife, and landscape of the West Texas area. Each workshop will focus on a different subject according to the Lubbock Parks and Recreation page.

3/13- Agave in Bloom - Plant
3/27- Cotton Bolls
4/10- Abstract Texas Horned Lizard
4/24- Palo Duro Canyon Landscape
Register for 1 workshop or the whole series. Discount if you register for all 4. Pre-registration required by 3/11 by noon. Ages 6+. (2 hrs.) Please arrive on time. Classes will end at scheduled time.

* Virtual Option available after the in-person: Participants will be able to pick up supplies and follow step by step video instructions to create their painting at home. Painting Rec Pack and canvas included.

The cost is $40 dollars per person and is open to ages six years old and older. As of publication, there are fifteen spots that remain open. The last day to register is March 11. You can sign up for one class or all four.

The classes begin on Saturday, March 13 from 10 a.m. to Noon at the Hodges Community Center which is located at 4011 University Ave.

According to the Parks and Recreation Facebook page, these paintings will be large canvas paintings but there will be smaller canvas options made available to those who want them.

No word on if you will need to wear a mask, but you might as well bring one just incase.
