You Take the Good, You Take the Bad-Happy Anniversary to the “Facts of Life”
If you grew up in the 80's then you probably watched the "Facts of Life" on a weekly basis and then watched the re-runs and probably still do today. The "Facts of Life" debuted back on this day in 1979. It was a spin-off from "Different Strokes".
When it debuted it was about a group of girls attending a boarding school.
The show's original characters included:
Charlotte Rae as Mrs. Garrett
Lisa Welchel as Blair
Kim Fields as Tuttie
Mindy Cohn as Natalie
Molly Ringwald as Molly Parker
Nacny McKeon didn't join the cast as Jo until 1980.
After that show show really centered on the four girls and Mrs. Garrett and then they eventually moved out of the boarding school and into the bakery with the upstairs apartment.
It was in 1987 that Charlotte Rae left the show and Cloris Leachman took over, and the show wasn't ever the same without Mrs. G.
The show also gave us a young dorky looking George Clooney.
I'll admit this was one of my favorite shows and I know the theme song by heart.
I'll admit my favorite episode was the one where they got into the paint fight.
A piece of the "Facts of Life" returns to TV as Lisa Welchel (Blair) has been cast in the latest season of Survivor.
Mindy Cohn (Natalie) can currently be seen on this season of "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," as well as the voice of Velma in newer episodes of "Scooby Doo."
Charolette Rae (Mrs. Garrett) has had a guest spot on "Pretty Little Liars."
Kim Fields (Tuttie) recently played a social worker in the movie "What to Expect When You're Expecting".
Nancy McKeon (Jo) had a spot on the Disney Channel show "Sonny with a Chance".
Molly Ringwald (Molly on the first season) stars in "The Secret Life of the American Teenager".
