A Broken Ceiling Fan Won’t Defeat Me: I Am Woman Hear Me Roar Part 2
So a few years ago I had to deal with the issue of a clogged toilet. I'm not a "fix it" kind of gal. The plunger wasn't working, and it was just clogged. At the time I didn't have the money for a plumber so I figured it out! Well the fan motor in the ceiling fan in my bedroom died about a year and a half ago and I haven't had a fan in my room. When it gets hot I use a box fan. Well no longer.
I finally found a fan I wanted and could afford, and bonus points it has a remote. No more turning off the light and making a run for the bed before the monsters grab my feet.
I know nothing about electricity or fan installation. So a male friend offered to put it up if I got a new ceiling fan. Well being low on money at the time I couldn't just go buy a new fan. Fast forward to 1 1/2 years later, I felt silly going and asking so I didn't. Then I asked my brother to help me, but he has to have surgery on his hands and they aren't functioning well at the moment.
So one day as I was talking to my wonderful awesome dear friend Jennelle, she said we can do it. We can get that fan up.
So last night, Jennelle and I put up a fan. Yes, it was trial by error, yes we made a few little mistakes that we had to fix, and yes it was a fun adventure full of laughter. Two and a half hours later we had the fan up and it was working! It took a bit to figure out the remote, but I had a working ceiling fan.
It was wonderful sleeping in a cool room without the sound of a box fan rumbling in my ear.
I would post the selfie of my friend and I hanging the fan but she threatened my life if I did.
I know some of you might be thinking, big deal it was just a ceiling fan, but for me it was a huge deal, and because of it, I feel just a little bit more independent.
