On October 1st, the Amarillo Police Department held a press conference to announce the arrest of a suspect in a rash of shootings that took place in early September on the North side of the city.

The suspect was named as 18-year-old David Winfield, an Amarillo resident. Incidentally, Winfield had been booked into Randall County Jail on a charge of public intoxication mere days after the shootings took place.

Since the arrest of Winfield, more information regarding the shooting and the impending court date have emerged. But not to fret, we'll get to that here in just a few.

The most important turn that this has taken is the arrest of a Sharon Fisher on charges of tampering with evidence. Fisher was booked into Potter County Detention Center on those charges yesterday and it is said that she is grandmother to shooting suspect, David Winfield.

With Winfield's alleged grandmother (the exact familial relationship has yet to be established from an official source) placed under arrest on these particular charges, the assumption is made that Fisher has hidden evidence or mislead officials when questioned about Winfield's involvement

Court documents report that Fisher allegedly removed a window from a vehicle matching the description given by eyewitnesses on the night of the shootings. A juvenile who was on the property gave a statement to officials that he witnessed Fisher remove a window that appeared to be shot out, as well as the door of the vehicle.

As a weapon that has been discharged from within a vehicle would indeed cause a substantial amount of damage to the interior, it can be assumed that the state of the window would point towards criminal activity.

However, allow me to concede that part is all pure speculation at the moment.

But, let's take a look at a few more things and dig a little deeper.

From what I gather from the court documents, Winfield seems to have confessed to firing a weapon at four vehicles over Labor Day weekend. Legal semantics aside, a confession sure does make the case a whole lot easier to figure out.

The teenager is currently housed in Potter County Detention Center, where he faces 4 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. And lest we forget, there is a possibility of a murder charge added to the laundry list of offenses--should he be directly linked to the murder of Laura Ashley on the same night the initial rampage took place.

Stay locked in, the mom thing is quite the twist!
