
Amarillo’s Film Festival Is Back; Here’s What You Need to Know

One thing you might not think about when it comes to Amarillo is film. No one would fault you for not thinking that Amarillo has a vibrant film community, but it does. From having Sharpened Iron Studios to a film commission and film society, Amarillo loves the movies.

International Film Festival Returns to Amarillo
This year will see the return of the Amarillo International Film Festival in October. It is a three-day festival that celebrates the magic of filmmaking, and it happens in the heart of the Texas Panhandle.
The festival begins on October 9 with a VIP reception, screening, and Q&A session moderated by Karen Welch. The event will last from 6 PM to 9 PM.

Friday and Saturday both run for 12 hours, and allow you to see a wide variety of films. Both days start at 9 AM and last until 9 PM. There are also education sessions planned for both days to give you insight into the film industry in Texas.
Arts In The Sunset Is The Home For This Year's International Film Festival
The Amarillo International Film Festival will be held at Arts In The Sunset this year. According to a recent press release, this year's festival will feature films from seven foreign countries, ten states, and several made in Texas. This includes films by local makers.

Tickets for the 2025 Amarillo International Film Festival go on sale on August 11. A complete schedule for the festival will be released in early September.
