The Greyhound Bus Station in Amarillo is a bit of a landmark. It looks like the end of that era is upon us. Word has been getting around that the station will be closing soon. Believe it or not, this could actually be some very exciting news. It could be pointing to something that's been in the works for years in Amarillo, Texas.

Is The Greyhound Bus Station In Amarillo Closing Down?

The first I heard about the Greyhound Bus Station closing in downtown Amarillo was a post on Facebook made by one of my favorite food trucks. In the post, he states that the location will be closing down this month and that the diner equipment is up for grabs (make an offer).

At first there was shock. It's hard to think of downtown Amarillo without the Greyhound Bus Station. It's hard to think of Amarillo without the bus station. Then I remembered a news story from a couple of years ago, and I think there might be more to the story.

Could We Be Getting Ready To See The Multimodal Transportation Center Finally?

Remember back when the plan was put in place for a multimodal transportation center? Originally, the center was supposed to open in late 2023, but plans changed and the timeline was adjusted to early 2024.

It doesn't get much earlier than the first few months of the year.

I've looked everywhere for any kind of news about the multimodal transportation center opening, but there's not much out there. If the news of the Greyhound station closing holds, hopefully that means the new facility will be having its grand opening very soon. We'll just have to wait and see.

Amarillo Landmarks: Negative Yelp Reviews

Yelp can be a strange and angry place. That's what I found out recently when I decided to sort the reviews by "lowest rating" first.

I was okay with the people upset over bad service and what not. But I came across a few reviews that, for lack of a better word, left me speechless in their scathing negative reviews on some of Amarillo's most iconic places. Prepare your self for plenty of head shaking and "I dunno" shrugs.
