There's a lot of construction happening all over Amarillo, Texas, right now. The road work happening on Bell right now is impacting traffic near I-40. The Street Maintenance Project is in full swing.
Today's announcement is regarding the Georgia Street Reconstruction Project. Starting on Wednesday, October 8, parts of Georgia Street will be closed.

The southbound lanes on Georgia will be closed starting at Stardust Lane. One of the northbound lanes will be used for southbound traffic. The normal flow of traffic will resume north of Farmers Avenue.

While these projects do create some headaches for us as we try to go about our daily lives, they are much needed. When you're on the road and come up on one of these work zones, slow down and give crews enough room to work.
Hopefully, these projects will go quickly and won't impact our daily commutes for too long. Until that happens, be patient and remember how nice it will be when it's finished.
