So from what I've heard, Amarillo used to have some street racing that went on within the city every weekend.

Ultimately the races came to an end, whether by police or just in general.

Unfortunately, it seems to have found its way back on to the streets of the city, and it's already getting extremely dangerous.

Back on April 1, Amarillo Police arrested Kevin Van Voris on an illegal street racing charge. He wasn't caught in the actual act of it, which makes it even stranger.

Police discovered a YouTube channel with a whole host of videos of illegal street racing. They watched more than 20 videos on the channel that documented street racing in Amarillo. The speeds in those videos were often in excess of 100 miles per hour.

A warrant was served and Van Voris was charged with deadly conduct in relation to illegal street racing.

Fast forward to yesterday, April 10 when police responded to a crash at NE 3rd Ave and S Buchanan St. When they arrived, they found a blue Dodge Charger that had slammed into a white Chevrolet pickup truck.

Witnesses said there were several vehicles street racing and the Dodge Charger was one of them.

Thankfully, there were no life threatening injuries. Especially considering one of the passengers in the Dodge Charger was a NINE MONTH OLD!

The driver of the Charger, Fernando Barrera Munoz was arrested for racing as well as endangering a child.

It's time to find a LEGAL place if you have that need for speed. Let's stop putting other people at risk.

Amarillo On 'America's Most Wanted'

I was surprised to find out recently that we also have a bit of a history with the show America's Most Wanted.

Digging through old news articles, I found several separate occasions where Amarillo and America's Most Wanted crossed paths. It makes me wonder if there are some that I've missed.

It's 2021 and folks are making up for staying indoors and following the law all throughout 2020. This isn't always a good thing, though. There have been quite a few odd, wacky, and outright grotesque crimes committed in the Texas Panhandle this year so far.

From Friona to Lubbock, there's plenty of bad behavior on display throughout the 806 in 2021.

Take a look at what these hellions have gotten themselves into:
