When I heard this news today I was so jealous. Eleven Amarillo Independent School District students were chosen to participate in NASA’s High School Aerospace Scholar Program. Lucky.

According to NASA:

Texas High School Aerospace Scholars is an authentic STEM learning experience for Texas high school juniors to engage with NASA’s mission and become the next generation of explorers. Like-minded students complete an online curriculum in exploration and discovery. The highest achieving students are invited to attend a 5-day virtual experience plus a 2-day onsite to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas during the summer. Mentored by NASA scientists and engineers, students work in teams to plan a mission to the Moon and Mars.

The Amarillo students will join other students in activities like interactive lessons on NASA strategy related to space exploration, earth science, technology and aeronautics, virtual chats with NASA engineers and scientists and more.

For some students, the program will end with an invitation to a five-day virtual experience plus a two-day visit to the Johnson Space Center in Houston. Good luck Amarillo AISD students!
