Get Holiday Cheer With Parade of Lights This Weekend in Canyon
A lot of us were bummed out at the news that there would be no Electric Light Parade this year. Even adjusting the parade to be a "reverse parade" wasn't enough to save it in 2020. If you're still hoping to take in a holiday parade, this weekend in Canyon might be your best bet.
Saturday (December 5), Canyon will be having their Parade of Lights. It kicks off at 5:30 PM and lasts until 7:30 PM at Canyon High School. This will be a reverse parade. You can get more details by following this link.
In case you don't know, a "reverse parade" is one where you do the driving. Instead of lining up on empty swaths of sidewalk, you drive through the "parade." The floats won't be driving through town. They'll be stationary.
At the end of the parade, Santa himself will be waiting to accept letters and wish-lists from kids. Everyone is required to stay in their vehicle, so there won't be a chance for you to snap photos with the man in red.
That's not all that's happening in Canyon this weekend. On December 5, they're also kicking off their Merry & Bright in Canyon. It's a window display contest You can find a map of displays to see by using this link to the Canyon Chamber's Facebook page.
This year has been tough, and finding ways to get the family out of the house to enjoy special events and holidays has been tricky. Saturday evening in Canyon looks like a good option for you to be able to do just that.
