We all gripe about the construction that seems to be never ending in Amarillo. I honestly don't know what any of us would do if one day we woke up and all of the orange cones were missing.

Get ready. starting in May the city will be kicking off the Summer Maintenance Program. The program will last through September.

The city will be using that stretch of time for improvements and maintenance on roads throughout the city.

When you go to the city's website for the project, they give a general outline of the areas they will be targeting. Areas include Sleepy Hollow, The Colonies, Hillside Terrace Estates, Heritage Hills, and Westover Village. They also point out they will working on "arterial" roadways throughout the city.

If you're wondering when and if your street will be closed during this time, the city actually has another website just for that. They've created a map that you can use to see updates regarding the projects.

Also, they do go over what you need to know in case you don't move your vehicle and it gets towed. The vehicle won't be impounded, and they're only supposed to move it out of the way of the road work. In fact, they say "look around the corner" since it is supposed to be left nearby.

Tree trimming will also be a part of the program. On social media, they did mention that it will be done at no charge to the resident.

Be on the lookout for the crews starting in just over a month, and going through September.
