Highway Patrolman From Borger Gets Lifesaving Award
Trooper Casey Dawson went above and beyond to save a civilian's life.
In May, Dawson was called out to I-40 for a medical emergency. He and another trooper spoke to a worker who was having difficulty speaking. Then, the worker had a seizure and Dawson used his EMT experience to stabilize the man's condition by providing the proper first aid treatment.
Because of his service, Trooper Dawson received the Lifesaving Award from the Texas Public Safety Commission and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Four other awards were given to officers and civilians for exemplary service.
Steven McGraw, Director of the PSC and DPS, said the following about the award recipients:
"DPS and the entire state of Texas are grateful to have so many true public servants who dedicate their time and careers to helping others, and today we are pleased to recognize just a few of those outstanding individuals. Thank you for your commitment to service and your vigilant efforts to protect your fellow Texans and to help fight crime in your communities."
Thank you to Trooper Dawson for his performance under pressure!
