Amarillo has a lot of history to it. We have a lot of places to celebrate the weirdness of the city too. The first that comes to mind is the Cadillac Ranch. I mean who thinks about burying cars in the ground? Why was that even a thing?

Amarillo you leave us with a chuckle a time or two. We also have some great places to go and learn a thing or two about the area. We can head down to Canyon and check out the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum to learn a lot about our history.

We can learn a lot about horses too by spending some time at the American Quarter Horse Museum.

We can learn the history of Indians in the area by taking a trip to the Kwahadi Museum of the American Indian. We have our places to visit and learn so much about our area. It is pretty nice.

Did you know we use to have another museum in the area? One that somehow has since disappeared? One where you could learn all about tornadoes. I guess. I never went. Apparently, I will never have the chance.

Do You Remember the Texas Tornado Museum?

It used to sit on the property of the Big Texan. The building is still there. Oh, but no Texas Tornado Museum. It's a dang shame.

I mean if they didn't want it why not ask Wonderland Park if they would like it as an attraction at the park?

I mean it would make just as much sense there since they do house their own spectacular roller coaster in our very own Texas Tornado. What would be more fitting?

So why did they close? Did they not have enough people stopping by to visit? I find that hard to believe. I mean it is on the property of The Big Texan. Did all the displays get blown away in our own Amarillo storm?

They closed down around 2005. That was the last I saw anything about the Texas Tornado Museum. Just another one of those weird roadside attractions that we once had the opportunity to check out.
