Review: Finally Roll Em Up Taquitos Ready to Be Judged
It took a while. I have been excited to try Roll Em Up Taquitos. I mean really. They opened up last week. It's not like I didn't try. They did their work on making sure everyone knew they were open.
Boy, have they been busy. Every time I drove by the line was crazy long. As much as I wanted to try them I also didn't want to wait forever in line. So I waited.
The lines have been so crazy that last Thursday I got this text from my walking buddy. I was talking about their taquitos so much that she wanted to go try them.
Tried to go to the taquito place (stupid Sherry). The employee guy who was out in the parking area was directing traffic. He said it would be about 1.5 hours from where I was (and they didn't have any beef) so I didn't stay.
Amarillo has been going crazy for Roll Em Up Taquitos. So when I finally got to stop by and get through line I knew it was going to be a glorious day.
I figured giving them a few days would be great. So when I left work yesterday I decided to check it out. When I got there the line was like nothing. So I decided to park and actually go in.
It was very clean. What you would expect having only been open less than a week.
The employees were very helpful. I had my list ready and ordered. I wanted to try a little bit of everything. I got a three-pack for my daughter: all in flour tortillas, she got chicken, potato, and cheese.
When I was online checking out the website I only saw shredded beef as an option. When I got there, and after I ordered I noticed they did have ground beef, which is what my daughter wanted. So we know for next time.
Her only complaint is that she wished she had gotten all the sauces on the side and just been able to dip them. She liked the taquitos themselves for sure. She thinks some of the cheese they use on the street corn was also on these. She is not a fan of that.
I got a five-pack. I got two corn tortillas and the rest flour, chicken, beef, potato, and cheese. I wanted to try them all. We got the mild sauce on top but they gave me a side of their lit sauce. I love spicy but I knew I was sharing mine with my granddaughter. The sauce was on fire. Big fan here. I think next time I will choose to get the sauce on the side too. There is something about wanting to dip your taquitos in something.
I also ordered a side of rice, beans, and their street corn in a cup.
We both loved the rice and beans. I liked the corn. My daughter was not a huge fan because of the feta cheese-tasting stuff. That is actually Cotija Cheese, and she wasn't a fan. That is ok, just more for me.
My only complaint was when I got there and parked, the parking lot and the drive-thru were pretty quiet. Once I left with my food it was tougher to leave. Luckily I drive a small car and could maneuver out of the parking space with cars in the drive-thru. I was not able to drive out of the parking lot.
Thankfully the people in line noticed and worked together to move and let me out. It was getting close to noon and thought I might be there for a bit. So next time I will park a little further out.
Yes, the taquitos were good. All of the sides were good. I need to try the churro donuts next.
Roll Em Up Taquitos was worth the wait in my book.
