Mom and Daughter Bonding Moment From Amarillo to Dallas
So I got a call from my daughter the day before I was leaving to visit her in the Dallas area. She was SO excited. She waited on a group of business type men and women. She got to talking to them and they really liked her service and how she presented herself.
They asked her to call over her manager. She had no idea why. When he got there they told her and the manager about a BIG Socialite event happening in Dallas the weekend before Thanksgiving. It's called the Dallas Social Margarita Ball.
It's by invite only unless you spend a few thousand dollars on a sponsorship. They preceded to ask the manager if my daughter could have that night off so that she could attend. She was totally excited and called me right away.
There are a lot of rules. Read them HERE. One of them is you can't enter without an unwrapped gift for a kid. The gift has to be valued at $35. Which I totally love. I mean this whole thing is to give kids a Christmas.
With my daughter being new to the area I think this will be a great opportunity for her to meet new people and maybe open the door for new job opportunities. We, though, had to go dress shopping first.
Luckily I was heading that way. We never went Prom dress shopping when she was in high school. She went to the Prom but bought dresses from older friends. So this was a fun and new experience for both of us.
My first text was to a friend of mine out there to give me some ideas of where to go to shop. I was only there for a few days so I didn't have a lot of time. She gave me a list of ideas. We ended up going to Terry Costa.
Let me tell you if you need a dress and want to go to the Dallas area the experience was fabulous. I hate to shop....so I was kind of dreading this. Even though I know it was a great experience for us to have together. When we walked in the first girl we saw asked about the event we were shopping for. She told her about the Margarita Ball. This lady had gone a couple years ago and gushed telling my daughter about it.
That made my child even more excited. She took us over to the size we needed. I found a dress I loved right away for her......we grabbed it and they started us a room.
We only picked out about 4 dresses but let me tell you the first one she tried on was IT. Everyone loved it and we didn't need to alter it at all. Which is fabulous. That saved this mom a little bit of money.
The cost was a little more than I wanted to spend but when it is the dress....you just have to. Oh and she can wear it again or sell it. So we picked out jewelry next.
So I will give you a sneak peak of the dress. OK to be honest I didn't get one when she tried it on. They had a sign saying no pictures. I thought that meant in general. No....it was just while she was in the dressing room area. You know so you don't accidentally get a picture of someone else dressing. We could have her walk out into another mirrored area but I didn't know.
I will update the story after the event....along with photos. I can't wait. Stay tuned.....
