Rain Lifts Burn Ban In Amarillo, Good News For Outdoor Lovers

This year has been a weird one for weather in the Texas Panhandle. Amarillo, Texas, has seen all four seasons in a week, broken records, and then came the burn bans.

Earlier this year, multiple burn bans were put in place in the panhandle. Those bans included both Potter and Randall counties.

Good News Regarding Burn Bans In Amarillo, Texas

With Randall and Potter counties under burn bans, that meant all of Amarillo found itself under a ban. Fortunately, that all changed today.

According to a post on social media from the Potter County Sheriff's Office, the burn ban that was in place for Potter County has been lifted. Rejoice. Once again, we can sip beverages around the fire pit. Amarillo is no longer under a burn ban.

The Rain In Amarillo, Texas, Has Done Incredible Things In The Area

The reason for the ban being lifted, according to the Potter County Sheriff's Office, is all of the rain that we've received recently. The rain we've had has done a lot of good for the area.

The Canadian River and Lake Meredith received some much-needed rain, and the lake is in excellent condition. If you haven't been out to Lake Meredith since the rains came, it's worth the trip.

Everything is green and lush. If you haven't checked out Palo Duro Canyon, it's absolutely gorgeous and green right now. By the way, all but one of the trails are open again, according to the latest update from Palo Duro Canyon State Park.

Hopefully, we'll get enough rain over the next few months to keep everything looking beautiful, and we won't see any more burn bans.
