Crime Strikes Amarillo: Robber Makes Off With Cash And Lotto Tickets
In some ways, the year 2024 is off to a rough start in Amarillo, Texas. We're only on day five of the new year, and criminals are awfully busy. This morning, for instance, an armed robbery took place at a local convenience store.
Jan 5, 2024 Armed Robbery Of Toot'n Totum In Amarillo, Texas
According to reports, officers responded to a call at about 6:40 AM this morning regarding an armed robbery. It happened at the Toot'n Totum on South Georgia in the 800 block.
A robbery at 6 AM? This early bird is going to catch a charge, and not a worm.
Supposedly, a man wearing a hoodie and a mask went into the store and proceeded to threaten an employee with a gun. What he was after was a little shocking.
Robber Was After Cash And Lotto Tickets
According to the reports, the robber was able to make off with an undisclosed amount of cash and, get this, lotto tickets. The lotto tickets made me do a double-take when reading the report.
Who would steal lotto tickets? More importantly, why? I get you're apparently fond of taking big risks Mr. Robber, but the lotto? You'd have been better off with a breakfast burrito. Good luck cashing any of those in.
I digress.
Reports don't mention anyone being injured in the robbery, which is fortunate. They also mention that the suspect fled on foot. Authorities are reaching out to the public asking if anyone has any information on this crime.
Hard to believe it's only five days into the new year and we're already seeing stories like this. Then again, I suppose crime never really takes a holiday.
