Tascosa Drive-In Gets New Owners; Tribute Already Planned
Recently, news broke that a major announcement was coming from Tascosa Drive-In. It had been a long time since we'd heard anything from Amarillo's iconic drive-in theater. The major announcement turned out to be that there are new owners of the Tascosa Drive-In. That was followed up with news of an update to the theater to honor the previous owners.
New Owners Of Tascosa Drive-In Announced
In a post on social media, Tascosa Drive-In announced that the big news was new ownership of the drive-in. The new owners are the Dewitz family. The post added that there are a lot of updates and modernization that are planned for the theater.
It's fantastic news considering it wasn't long ago we all thought we'd never be able to go to the drive-in ever again. The auction, which was later called off, seemed to be the final nail in the coffin of the theater. Fortunately, the Dewitz family have stepped in and we will all get to enjoy the drive-in again.
Tribute Planned To Honor Former Owners Of Tascosa Drive-In
Earlier this week, another announcement was made via social media. This time it was about a plan to honor the previous owners of Tascosa Drive-In. The plan is to update the playground and name it in honor of Noah and Peyton.
Noah passed away at the age of 13 and Peyton at the age of 17 from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The playground will be named "Noah and Peyton's Place" and updates will be made to make it an inclusive playground. One of those updates will be the addition of a wheelchair swing.
It's great that we're going to get our drive-in theater back, and it's even better that plans are already in place to honor the family who previously owned the Amarillo icon. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates.
