The Amarillo Children’s Home Needs Pumpkins to Decorate
One of the great things about being a kid at Halloween is getting to help carve a Jack 'O Lantern or decorate a pumpkin. Getting all sticky and messy as you clean out the guts of a pumpkin. Concentrating and contemplating on the perfect face for 'ol Jack. It's one of those memories from childhood you'll cherish. Every child, tween, and teen need to experience the fun of carving a pumpkin or decorating a pumpkin.
We have hundreds of kids in Amarillo that don't have a traditional family. They are in and out of foster homes and in and out of children's homes. These kids need normalcy as well, especially during the holidays. Halloween is included.
This is where you come in. The Amarillo Children's Home is needing your help. They are needing pumpkins and lots of them. They are wanting to give their kids those lasting memories:
One way you restore the identity of children is by creating new, meaningful memories with them that show them how much they are loved and valued.
If you can, while you are out an about in the next few days, please take the time to stop at one of the local pumpkin patches located on nearly every major street in Amarillo. You'll find several on Western, a few on Bell, one on Soncy by Pete's Car Smart, and a few on Georgia. Plus you can find pumpkins at all your major stores like United and Walmart.
Once you have the pumpkins you can drop them off at the Amarillo Children's Home administration building on the ACH Campus at 3400 S. Bowie. You can just leave them on the porch.
Anything you can do would be appreciated to help these kids create new, positive, lasting memories.
