The Coffee Memorial Blood Center is in Critical Need of O-Negative Blood Going Into the Thanksgiving Holiday
With the icy road conditions and the numerous wrecks we have had over the weekend. Plus, the fact that we are entering a very busy holiday weekend. The Coffee Memorial Blood Center needs your help. They need your help in giving the Gift of Life.
Why not makes someones holiday season life changing by taking a few minutes out of your day before you head out for your holiday plans and donate a pint of blood to the Coffee Memorial Blood Center.
The blood center is located at 7500 Wallace Blvd
Blood center hours tomorrow are extended to 5:30am-7pm so you have the option of coming early or late.
Every eligible donor who presents at the center will receive a complimentary t-shirt, a gallon of milk and will be registered for a weekly drawing for a one-year supply of milk – Thanks to Plains Dairy!
When there is a crisis situation and there is no time to type a patient’s blood, they are given type O-negative (the universal donor) immediately to save their life. So, we always need a significant supply of types O-negative as well as type O+ (most common blood type) on hand. Because of testing, it is 24-48 hours before a unit of blood can be used after it is donated. We have to be prepared every day as no one knows what that day will bring.
Right now, we are accepting all blood types going into the Thanksgiving holiday. After this weekend, we have a critical need for type O-negative.
Holiday hours at the blood center are:
o Today until 5:30pm
o Tuesday, extended hours 5:30am-7:00pm
o Wednesday, 9am-5:30pm
o Thursday, CLOSED for Thanksgiving
o Friday, 8am-4:30pm
o Saturday, 8am-12pm
