The Muppets Famous “Mahna Mahna” Was Originally Used in a Soft Core Italian Porn

I have to admit that the “Mahna Mahna” song is very catchy and I would find myself humming and singing the song long before The Muppets got their reboot.  However, I was kind of shocked to find that this song originally got its start in a soft core Italian porn documentary called Sweden: Heaven and Hell.

According to IMDB the movies was  a pseudo-documentary about sexuality in Sweden.  The song was written by composer Piero Umiliani.

The song was included in the movie in 1968.

In 1969 The Muppets first used the song in a Sesame Street sketch.

Then in 1976 on the first episode of The Muppet Show gave us “Mahna Mahna” we all know and love today

Who would have thought that the catchiness of the “Mahna Mahna” song got it's start in porn.  When you think of the song you think of The Muppets.    I guess it is just as catchy as "bow chica wow wow."
