When Your Dogs in Amarillo are High Maintenance About the Weather

It's a never ending game of watching the weather here in Amarillo. Is it going to rain? Is it going to be sunny? Heck in the winter is it going to snow.

We get all the different seasons. Some times we really get them all in a short time frame. So yesterday we knew it was going to rain. When that is the prediction I have to do some extra set up for my dogs.

Now mind you I have a dog house they can use to get out of the elements. I also have a porch they can go underneath. But no. They choose not to use either. So I had to come up with another plan.

So now when I know the weather is going to be bad I go ahead and pull my car out of the garage. The garage I have is detached. I then make sure the door entrance to garage is propped open. I have to also make sure I have the light switch off. That is important because with it off so is the electricity to the garage.

This way after a long day of work I don't forget the side door is open and accidentally open the garage door where two dogs can run to their freedom. The last thing I want to do is go chasing after them after 12 or 13 hours of work.

So anytime I know the weather may be bad I take the steps to make sure they have shelter. I even throw their dog kennel in there for them to lay in. It seems they like that pretty well.

I am also in the plans to update my porch. I would like a small enclosed porch with a doggy door. This way instead of the garage they can run in and out of the porch enclosed area as needed. I will just have to get this built and teach them to use the doggy door. What is that they say about can't teach an old dog new tricks? I hope that is not true.
