Coming up this Saturday, from 9a-1p, the Boy Scouts will be doing their annual Scouting for Food.  This day for me is like Halloween in March.  Only you won't find goblins, pumpkins or ghouls.    You will only find nice young men in uniform collecting non-perishable foods for the High Plains Food Bank.

Our teenagers are inundated every day with drugs and alcohol whether it be from peers, TV, music or the internet.  The one way to keep our kids from buckling under the pressure and experimenting with drugs is to talk to them and educated them about the consequences.  That is where Impact Futures comes into the picture.

Children's Miracle Network is a local organization who helps out sick kids in the Texas Panhandle.  Each year Mix 94.1 turns over our radio station to raise funds for CMN.  Some of those funds go to help the kids have fun during their stay at the hospital.  One local patient turned a stay in a hospital to a possibility of having her artwork showcased on a White Cloud tissue box.

Each year the Salvation Army has a contest to see who can ring the bell the longest. It has become an annual event and this year Amarillo has a contestant taking part.  This year's goal is ringing the bell 60 hours straight.

It's that time of year again, to buy an extra bag of food when you go grocery shopping.  The High Plains Food Bank's Together We Can Food Drive starts on Monday.

It's that time of year again for Christmas trees.  If you are one of those people who love a real tree, or maybe you would like a real tree this year, don't purchase your tree from a big discount store, purchase it from a local source, Troop 80 Treeland.

While you are out and about doing your Christmas Shopping this weekend.  Remember the Salvation Army Angel Tree this Holiday Season.  The tree contains the names of children in the Panhandle Area who are in need of a Christmas this year.

When it comes to Christmas and the needs of children most organizations take care of the small children.  However, when it comes to teenagers, they seem to be the ones left out.  That is why, Amarillo Teen Christmas was founded.

A fun event is happening in Claude, Tx this Saturday.  It is the first Claude Safety Day.  Make plans to make the short trip from Amarillo to Claude to learn about safety with the family while having some fun.

If you are like me you get a ton of blankets as gifts.  I mean, they are the perfect gift because who doesn't need a blanket and they are perfect for a tight budget.  However, sometimes you get to many blankets and they end up in your linen closet still in the package.  If that is the case, donate those new or gently used blankets.
