Take the Kids to Amarillo’s Discovery Center for Just $1 This August

One of the biggest challenges we face as parents is finding things for the kids to do that are affordable and that they'll actually enjoy. Luckily, the Discovery Center in Amarillo has an event coming up that checks both of those boxes.

The Don Harrington Discovery Center in Amarillo, Texas, is going to be having Discovery For A Dollar on August 29, 2025. It would be a great time to take your kids there if you haven't in a while.

Why Families Love the Discovery Center

The Discovery Center is hands down my kids' favorite place to hang out in Amarillo. There is a wide variety of activities and exhibits, and most of it is hands-on.

My kids, now 5 and 9, always have a great time. My 5-year-old's favorites are the various play areas and the dinosaurs outside in the playground area. My 9-year-old enjoys the theater, the reading nook, and all of the animals.

The best part about the Discovery Center is that they frequently add new exhibits and activities. If you haven't visited in a while, it will look a little different the next time you go.

Event Details and What’s Included

Discovery For A Dollar gives you the opportunity to take the kids to the Discovery Center after hours to experience all that it has to offer. The best part is that it only costs a dollar per person.

It will be the most you've ever gotten out of a single dollar. The event lasts from 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM. For $1 a person, you and the kids can enjoy the exhibits, the Space Theater, live demonstrations, and even some critter encounters.
