What to Do If It Rains In Amarillo on the 4th of July

The weather in Amarillo, Texas, can be wild and unpredictable. We often pray for rain, and while we love it, it can show up at the worst time possible.

With the Fourth of July coming up, the last thing any of us wants is for there to be rain during a fireworks show. It could put a damper on the whole celebration, but it doesn't have to.

I've lived through several Independence Day celebrations that were cut short thanks to Mother Nature turning on the waterworks. I've found several ways to take the bite out of the disappointment.

Ways To Cope With A Rained-Out Fireworks Display

The tried and true old standby is to just turn on the TV and watch what someone else is fighting mosquitoes to see. Thanks to the marvels of modern technology, you can find fireworks on YouTube and stream them on your TV. Problem solved.

If you are close enough to the edge of town, you can set your sights on the horizon and watch people who live outside of city limits set off their fireworks despite the rain. I've known several people who refuse to let the weather stop them from having a good time.

If you're at Hodgetown in downtown Amarillo on the Fourth and the rain comes falling down, just hang out for a while. They have concession stands and beer carts. Not a bad place to sit out the rain.

Fortunately, there isn't a one-hundred percent chance of rain on the Fourth this year. However, there is still a chance.

What Is In Amarillo’s July 4th Forecast

The National Weather Service in Amarillo has said that as of right now, there's up to only a twenty percent chance for rain on the Fourth. They also said their confidence in a dry Fourth is low.

Hopefully, if we do get rain on the Fourth of July, it's early enough in the day that it doesn't ruin any of the fireworks shows planned for that night.
