It kicked off September 24, and you may be noticing some disruptions to your commute.

Work is being done on arterial roads in Amarillo as part of the City's Street Maintenance Program. That work is going to cause some disruptions, but it shouldn't be anything too major...fingers crossed.

The unfortunate part is that the work being done on these arterial roads could take a little longer than on other roads because of the type of work being done. It's a bit more intricate than what the other streets get.

What Type Of Road Work Is Being Done In Amarillo?

The work being done on the arterial roads is to ensure durability. According to the information put out by the City, it's a two-step process. First, a layer of oil, gravel, and rock is put down. It's given 2-3 weeks to cure, and then the second layer is added to make it a smooth, drivable surface. You can follow this link for updates.
