It seems like there are a lot of construction projects popping up around Amarillo, Texas right now. Bridges are being updated. Highways are getting makeovers. Almost every time you turn around you're faced with an "expect delays" sign. Starting Monday, if you travel on South Coulter between Sundown and McCormick, you'll want to find another way to get where you're going.

Traffic Woes Beginning September 16 On South Coulter In Amarillo

Earlier today, news came out about a construction project beginning on September 16. The Randall County Road & Bridge Department is planning on making some major improvements in the area between Sundown and McCormick. It all starts with the intersection of Sundown and South Coulter.

During the work on the intersection of Sundown and South Coulter, Sundown will be closed from Soncy (FM 2590) to the I-27 bridge. You'll want to avoid that area. Once that's done, work will continue to the rest of South Coulter all the way to McCormick. While that's going on, the section of South Coulter between Sundown and McCormick will be closed.

Expect Delays On South Coulter Between Sundown And McCormick

It should go without saying but expect delays on South Coulter once you hit Sundown Lane. It's going to be a headache if you have to be in that area, but take it slow and keep an eye out for signs and crews. Everyone wants to make it home to the people they love, or their cat, at the end of the day.

The entire project is expected to last until September 25. That's not that long when you consider other projects around Amarillo are supposed to last until some time next year. Take a breath, take a different route on your commute, and repeat after me; it will be so nice when it's finished.
