On July 25th, More Roadwork To Begin On The Interstate In Amarillo, Texas
Recently, we braced ourselves for the start of construction between Canyon and Amarillo as the project to widen lanes got underway. Now, we've got news of another construction project about to start on the west end of Amarillo. Prepare yourself. Work on the Hope Road Bridge is about to begin.
Hope Road Bridge To Be Replaced In Amarillo, Texas
According to a press release issued recently by the Texas Department of Transportation, work on the Hope Road Bride will begin on July 25, 2024. According to the release, the Hope Road Bridge on IH-40 is at the end of its "service life" and needs some upgrades. Pour one out for Hope Road Bridge, I guess.
Some of the cooler upgrades to the bridge include increased vertical clearance and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations along Hope Road. That's the good news. The bad news is how long the project is going to last.
Project To Upgrade Hope Road Bridge To Last Into 2025
According to the press release, the work to upgrade/replace the Hope Road Bridge will last into 2025. The bright spot is that it is only supposed to last until the early part of next year.
There are going to be multiple closings while construction is going on. They will happen intermittently and include:
- IH-40 westbound frontage road from Helium Road to BI-40
- Westbound BI-40 to IH-40 frontage road exit ramp
- IH-40 westbound entrance ramp from Hope Road
- IH-40 eastbound exit ramp 62A to Hope Road
- IH-40 south frontage road from eastbound exit ramp 62A to Hope Road intersection
- Eastbound exit ramp 62B for Amarillo Boulevard
As always, if you have to travel through the area around Hope Road Bridge while construction is happening, slow down. Pay attention to signs and be on the lookout for crews. We all want to make it home to our families and loved ones at the end of the day. And remember, it will be so nice once it's finished.
