Study Finds Holidays Affect How We Work and Other Obvious Stuff
A survey by Red Bull reveals that 48% of workers admit that their productivity decreases at work just before, or immediately following, a holiday or a planned vacation. Read on for other findings. I don't know about you, but when I go on vacation, it actually starts the minute I decide to go. It takes twice as much concentration making sure everything gets done and done right.
However, this doesn't necessarily affect vacation goers. There's also a productivity problem on normal days.
20% of workers admit that their productivity decreases within an hour of arriving at work
11% of workers admit that their productivity decreases within three hours of arriving at work
What do you do to get in the work mood? For me, it takes a gigantic cup of coffee.
According to Pickthebrain.com, here are some tips to get you in the right mind at work:
- Make a short list of tasks. Sometimes after a vacation or three day weekend you feel overwhelmed getting caught up at work. If you make a short list and just tick them off as you complete them it will make you feel more productive.
- Think of how you'll feel later on. You always have a sense of satisfaction after completing a task(s). That's something to look forward to. It will get you in the mood.
- Promise yourself a reward. "If I get this done, I'll treat myself to a ____." Always works.
