Get Ready. Cold Weather Is Headed For The Panhandle.
According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, wind chill could get between 5-15 degrees.
Predictions are for a freeze, and possibly some light snow. Here are a few quick reminders on ways to fight the colder weather.
- 1
Don't Leave Your Car Unattended
Yeah, it's going to be really cold Friday morning. You'll be tempted to leave your car running so it can warm up or stay warm. Don't. That's an easy way to get your car or the stuff inside your car stolen.
Also, be sure you have an ice scraper in your car. You might need it.

Don't Let Your Pipes Freeze
With colder weather, that means frozen pipes. It's always a good idea to let faucets drip to keep them from freezing.
- 3
Bundle Up
Time to dig through wherever you store your winter wardrobe and pull out heavy coats, hats, scarves, gloves, and whatever else you have. Wind chill is expected to be around 5 - 15 degrees. Now, that's cold.
Also, it's a good idea to keep extra blankets, quilts, or something like that in the car just in case you wind up on the side of the road.

Bring in your pets
It's going to get frigid out there, so be sure to bring in your pets if at all possible. Again, wind chill is supposed to be somewhere between 5-15 degrees.
