The holidays are officially upon on, and while that tends to create a lot of excitement, it also creates a lot of stress among some families.

Some parents watch their kids excitedly work on Christmas gift lists, thumbing through those fancy magazines full of toys and other goodies from stores, circling what they want this holiday season. Meanwhile, the parents are in the background wondering how they're going to get them the clothes they need, let alone the toys they want.

This holiday season, Townsquare Media and KAMR Local 4 wants to make sure those kids and families get the things they need in order to make sure they have a great holiday season. We've teamed up with 20 local non-profit agencies to create Help 4 The Holidays.

A holiday drive unlike anything ever seen in Amarillo that will change the fortune of the holidays for hundreds, if not thousands of Amarillo residents. We will be set up and broadcasting live, in the cold, at Wolflin Square right next to Silverland Hallmark from November 28 to December 4 collecting thousands of items needed this holiday season.

This isn't a drive for just toys and things like that, this is about those everyday items that people are in need of. Things such as diapers, shampoo, toothpaste, clothing, arts and crafts supplies, etc.

The things we take for granted are the items most needed for some of these families. There are so many families that use the little money they have to keep the lights on and cover rent, then barely have enough for the life essentials needed.

You never know who's going through it. It could be your next-door neighbor, it could be one of your closest friends, or it can even be a family member. This is our chance to give back, to take care of them so they can have the things they NEED, and be able to get their kids a few things they WANT.

Please join in by donating anything you can from the list that you'll be able to find at the Help 4 The Holidays website. No donation is too small, something as simple as picking up an extra bottle of shampoo at the dollar store will go a long way.

If you're a business and would like to go the extra mile, you'll be able to Adopt an Agency as well. More details on that to follow.

Let's make the holiday season a great one for everyone in the 806 this year, and end 2022 with a bang.
