The Bloodstained Men & Their Friends...

...is the name of the group that visited our city today. Their goal, as laid out by the press release which foretold of their coming, is to "peacefully educate."

According to their press release in regards to circumcision:

It is unnecessary, cruel, damaging, and ethically unacceptable to remove a healthy body part from a person who is incapable of consent.

To boil it all down, circumcision is bad according to The Bloodstained Men.

They go from city to city, donning their impossible-to-ignore outfits and signs. The protests are peaceful and the group is actually a lot of fun to chat with.

A Big Long Tour To Educate The Masses

I have to admit, when it comes to protestors and activists, these were some of the nicest people I've met. They were more than willing to let me walk and ask a couple of questions.

I found out that Bloodstained Men has been around since circa 2012. One of the people I spoke with has been doing these events since 2014. That's a lot of time and dedication.

Despite the cold weather, they seemed to be pretty happy to be out spreading the word.

Their tours stretch from one side of the US to the other with stops scattered all over. Their next stop is Albuquerque.

Personally, I can't say I've picked a side in this fight. What I can say though, is that I like friendly people and interesting conversations.

I got plenty of both.

A Most Taboo Subject That We Take For Granted

Agree with them or not, kudos have to be given for bringing up a topic most of us can go a whole decade without thinking about. It's strange really. I've always just accepted that circumcision is what we do, and never thought about it.

There are several links to studies and medical journals that the group provides to back-up and support their stance. You can find out more by following this link to their website.
