I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook.  However, every now and then you find a gem buried within all the game requests, Bitstrips, political rants and giraffes.  I have noticed that a post has been going around about a man who has been married for less than two years, and had realized that marriage isn't for him.

Seth Adam Smith has a internet blog but this one has caught people's eyes because it is so insightful. Here is just a snippet:

“Seth, you’re being totally selfish. So I’m going to make this really simple: marriage isn’t for you. You don’t marry to make yourself happy, you marry to make someone else happy. More than that, your marriage isn’t for yourself, you’re marrying for a family. Not just for the in-laws and all of that nonsense, but for your future children. Who do you want to help you raise them? Who do you want to influence them? Marriage isn’t for you. It’s not about you. Marriage is about the person you married.”

Some times it is funny how things click and that is something that clicked.  Love is a two way street, however, this really puts things into perspective.  I always saw marriage as a partnership, something that you do for love, but it is truly about the other person.
