New Cell Phone Scam – If It Rings Once Don’t Call The Number Back
Here's a scam, there's a scam, every where a scam, scam. It seems that every time you turn around, a new scam has surface. Before we know it thieves will find a way to scam us for blinking. Today's new scam involves your cell phone. It seems this is happening around the Chicago area but it is only a matter of time before it spread so here is your heads up.
The Better Business Bureau in Chicago issued the warning. Here's how it works:
Scammers are calling cell phones and letting them ring once.
Person who got the call curiously calls the number back to see who called.
Well they are immediately charged a $19.95 international call fee, then they are on the phone waiting to be connected to someone and are charged $9 per minute.
Avoid the "One Ring Scam" don't answer or call back international numbers.
My policy is if I don't recognize the number I don't answer it. If they don't leave a message it wasn't that important.
