Customers Frustration And Anger Continue Over Water Bills In Amarillo, Texas
Back in May, several residents in Amarillo, Texas were suddenly surprised when they received water bills that were supposedly years overdue. Recently, someone I know very well went through issues they're still having with their water bill in Amarillo. Months after the last round of drama, there is still frustration when it comes to water bills in Yellow City.
How Can Water Bills Become Such A Big Headache?
The person I mentioned, who wished to remain anonymous, told me about the issues they've been having recently. For the past few months, at the start of the month, they receive a notice that their meter is going to be disconnected. The infuriating part is that their bill is paid, on time, every month.
They showed me the receipts. They have all of the bank statements showing where the City had received their payment and it had been drawn from their bank account. They also showed me the emails they were now having to send the City, every month, to prove they've been paying their bill.
It's infuriating to think that you can pay your bill on time, every time, and for whatever reason you're still being threatened with having your water turned off.
How Could Something So Simple Become So Complicated?
I asked this person if they had been given any kind of explanation. This issue has been going on for several months, and this week they went through it again. Unfortunately, they haven't been given an explanation, and the problem continues. Once a month, they have to call and then email proof that they paid their bill. Usually, according to the individual, the phone calls end with them being told, "Oh, we see your payment here. Everything is fine."
On one occasion they were told that it had something to do with their old account at a house they used to live in. On another occasion, they were told it might have something to do with their bank (which no one was able to fully explain or make sense of).
How could this be so difficult? Why is this person having to deal with threats of having their service turned off month after month?
Hopefully, this is the last month they have to deal with this issue. If you're going through something similar, I would love to know your story.
