This upcoming Saturday (9/5/2020) is the Day of Caring: Route 66 Gives Back event in Amarillo. It's an entire day of events, music, and food to help raise funds for area non-profit charities.

It kicks off at 10 AM Saturday morning, with no real scheduled end time. To cap off the evening their will be a Route 66 cruise. You can see a flyer detailing the day below.

It will be a family friendly event. There is going to be face painting for the kids. The Sweets & Treats Food Truck will be there, as well as Cottage Crafts. There will be live music to enjoy, and of course a lot of food.

There is also going to be several vendor booths set up. You can see the map for the event below.

Each business on historic Route 66 on 6th Street has teamed up with a non-profit during the event to help raise awareness and funds. It's going to be a day of family fun that will help a lot of area charities. I counted a total of eleven area non-profits that will be benefiting from the event.

This year has been tough for local events. It's nice that we not only have something to look forward to this weekend that gives the family something to do, but it also helps out local non-profits who have been having a rough year.
