When it comes to convenience stores here in Amarillo,  it seems that a battle is always waging.

Let's look at it here, first of all, why aren't there any Allsup's in Amarillo?  Hmmm, they are just about everywhere, but not in Amarillo.

Next, it seems the main battle of convenience stores is between Toot 'n Totum and Pak-A-Sak. Come on Lori, a 'battle'? Really? You might say....First of all, it seems that where a Pak-A-Sak goes up, it's only a matter of time before TnT pops up across the street.

Second, Pak-A-Sak builds a nice store on 58th and Georgia. It's doing well then a TnT builds across the street.

Third, Pak-A-Sak is a Canyon store and no TnTs, now TnT has two in Canyon.

It seems that when a new Pak-A-Sak pops up, rest assured that a new TnT will be popping up near it.

Do they do this with Cefcos?  Will they be putting a TnT up next to Buc-cees?  I realize that TnT finally got in the truck stop game.  Will there be one going up across I-27 from that new large Cefco?  Probably not, but if it were a Pak-A-Sak they probably would.

Most people would say, that's good business.  Others would say, that's just annoying.

So why do I bring this up?  It's happening again. Pak-A-Sak has had a store at the intersection of VFW Road and FM 2219, it was one of the first convenience stores in that area, and residents rejoiced. Now, the battle continues TnT is officially building a store right across the street.

What gives, is this purely a game of business and numbers? Or are they sending Pak-A-Sak a message?

It sure would be a shame if a new store moved into town and takes out the hometown convenience stores *cough*Circle K, QT, Buc-cee's *cough*. If so please undercut the gas prices and Amarillo will love you.

Don't get me wrong, Amarillo has a ton of convenience stores, but it just seems that these two businesses go head to head and one of these days, something is going to give.

Is this face-off between Pak-A-Sak and Toot n Totum good business or war? You be the judge.
