Not long ago, I wrote about how I'm a big collector or memorabilia and sports cards.

Since moving to Amarillo, I've found it relatively tough to find sports cards in the area.

S&S Sports Cards has been my go to. It's only a couple of miles up the road and it satisfies the urge to rip packs or look over some loose singles.

I was craving more though. Where was I going to find some sports cards in the city that aren't the same ones I keep looking at?

Jackpot. The Nat. Of course. Why didn't I think about that?

I was scrolling around on Facebook the other night and saw someone post an ad with a couple pics of sports cards saying they'd just restocked. I was on cloud nine. Another place that has some cards? Can't wait to go in.

So I arrive today at The Nat and promptly head towards booth 548. I almost passed it to be honest with you. It's a little closet essentially and I was almost disappointed.

As I enter the small area, I start to notice it's not about the size of the space...it's about the selection, and I gotta say it was really fun to take a trip down memory lane.

One of the first things I noticed were the good ol rack packs. 1989 takes me back to those slightly oversized cards they produced and chasing Ken Griffey Jr. rookie cards. I was half tempted to buy a couple for old times sake. I might go back and do it.

They had several full sets of cards, from several sports not just baseball. I would've snagged a couple, but I already had the majority of them in my collection. Regardless, you won't find these anywhere else in the city. I also saw a box of 1990 All World Racing there. These were all the stars of the IndyCar circuit back in the day. Guys like Al Unser Jr. and Emerson Fittipaldi, racing legends. I really should've grabbed that box. I never got to open those when I was younger.

Talk about going back in the day. This is the stuff I used to crack open as a kid. The urge to buy one of each box was strong, if anything to show my kids how much fun it was to get a box of cards containing 36 packs of fun. Unfortunately, the wallet stopped me from grabbing one of everything.

You'll notice on the left hand side there are boxes stacked up. Those top two, Pinnacle and Fleer Ultra had my name written all over them. That's why you see them at the top. I resisted temptation, and as I write this, I'm regretting not grabbing them. Ultra was one of my favorite sets growing up. Now Fleer doesn't even exist.

Some of the coolest stuff I saw though had to be the oddball items, that I actually remember. You'll see those gold looking discs with a player on them. Those were these screen vision things that I haven't seen in YEARS. Just to the right of them? That's a Senior League Baseball full set. I actually had some of these cards growing up. It was...interesting to say the least.

Speaking of oddball type of stuff, how about this shelf? Line Drive minor league baseball card boxes, UT and Texas A&M boxes of cards and the old school Marvel ReCharge game. I don't know the last time I saw a few of these things.

It was these boxes that really caught my eye almost immediately. I know these are gonna be pre-90's so I gravitated to them right away. I was spot on. The urge to wanna grab that 1987 box and start ripping in hopes of pulling down a few rookie cards of my favorite player, Barry Bonds, was just screaming at me.

All in all, I was pretty satisfied with this little closet tucked away in The Nat. When I get that urge to rip some old wax, this is the first spot I'm hitting.

Amarillo Landmarks: Negative Yelp Reviews

Yelp can be a strange and angry place. That's what I found out recently when I decided to sort the reviews by "lowest rating" first.

I was okay with the people upset over bad service and what not. But I came across a few reviews that, for lack of a better word, left me speechless in their scathing negative reviews on some of Amarillo's most iconic places. Prepare your self for plenty of head shaking and "I dunno" shrugs.
