
Think Summer’s Over? Not Yet. Amarillo Splash Pads Stay Open.
This past weekend saw the end of summer for some of the pools in Amarillo, Texas. Even though two of the area public pools have closed for the season, that doesn't mean the fun is over.
Thompson Park Pool is still open on weekends through Labor Day, and there's great news regarding Amarillo's splash pads. There are still plenty of chances to enjoy some outdoor summer fun.
Amarillo's splash pads are a big attraction for the parks that have them. They're always full on hot sunny days. Families spend tons of time at them.
Pools Closed, but Summer Fun Continues in Amarillo!
Fortunately, there’s still time to get out and enjoy a splash pad before they're done for the season. Amarillo Parks and Recreation recently issued an update on the summer schedule.

All splash pads in the city will remain open through Labor Day, just like Thompson Park Pool. If you were hoping to spend Labor Day weekend at the park letting the kids play on a splash pad, you're in luck.
Which Splash Pads Still Open Through Labor Day?
The following parks have splash pads in Amarillo:
- Benton
- Bones Hooks
- City View
- Eastridge
- El Alamo
- Forest Hill
- Gene Howe Park
- Glenwood
- Hamlet
- Medical Center (John Ward Memorial Park)
- Memorial
- San Jacinto
- Southlawn
- Westover
The splash pad at Bones Hooks Park is closed every Monday for maintenance.

Even though Southeast and Southwest Pools are closed, there are plenty of chances to squeeze in some last-minute summer fun in Amarillo. Which is great news, considering how hot it can get in the Texas Panhandle in August.
