About this time every year, I find myself disgruntled. My disgruntlement is always a direct result of a brand new school year and all the old feelings it stirs in me.
Tuesday was the first day of school for us. I home school my children and I always start the day after Labor Day. Just seems to be the first official day of fall, in my mind at least.
I'm going to come clean about something I take a lot of flak for. I feel like, because my position on this is somewhat different from that of most, people are quick to insert their unwanted views or try and win me over to their way of thinking. But I probably feel more strongly about this one stance, than anything else. I don't feel the need to defend my position. But I do feel the need to explain
"Ancay ouyay eakspay igpay atlinay?" I asked my kids one morning this week after catching the tail end of a Phinneas and Ferb episode where they make up their own version of pig latin called "Ferb Latin." I saw a commercial where a mom sat in a silent house and said "This is what September sounds like." Yep. It's that time. Teachers and students are getting ready to go back to school. And while September doesn't sound anything like a quiet house to me, I am getting excited to start another school year. With the beginning of a new year in mind, I wanted to share some thoughts from a teache
Now that August has arrived, it's back to back-to-school shopping. When I was a kid, it was all about having the coolest Trapper Keeper. The Trapper Keeper was the iPhone of the 80's preteen. It held folders and paper and it had a clipboard and you could even stuff photos inside the plastic cover. I vividly remember ogling the Lisa Frank designed Trapper Keepers and begging my mom to spend the $5
