We made it through Valentine's Day with all the sweet delicious Chocolate. Now we are moving on our way to Easter.

Guess what? We are destined to get a chocolate bunny rabbit or two. Chocolate? It's everywhere. You feel bad for indulging.

Don't! There are some health benefits to eating chocolate.

If you like dark chocolate. Good for you. It has some nutrition. Especially if it is a high quality dark chocolate  with a high cocoa content. It has fiber and minerals like iron, magnesium, and potassium. You just have to make sure you seek it out.

Chocolate does have antioxidants. Raw, unprocessed cocoa beans are some of the best foods when it comes to antioxidants. Again kudos to the dark chocolate. Dark chocolate may have more antioxidants than blueberries and acai berries.

Have you heard that chocolate can be good for your heart? Eating chocolate has been shown to reduce levels of that bad cholesterol and help to raise the levels of the good cholesterol you need.. Having chocolate daily has been linked to a lower risk of a stroke.

Chocolate also has good benefits for your brain. Chocolate can help in fighting some diseases like Alzheimer's.

Do you feel better after you eat chocolate? It actually can increase the production of endorphins and serotonin. That combination can decrease pain and lift your mood. Your energy can also go up. All by eating chocolate.

So as we are gearing up for the week don't feel bad if you need a piece of chocolate to get you going. It's not as bad as you think. It actually has health benefits.
