Llano Cemetery Honors Fallen Heroes with Wreaths Across America
Join Llano Cemetery as they join Arlington Cemetery and many across the country to honor our fallen heroes and veterans. Llano will be joining other cemeteries across the country in the national Wreaths Across America Program.
Wreaths Across America is a non-profit organization founded in 2007. Each December, Wreaths Across America places over 700,000 wreaths on the graves of veterans at over 900 cemeteries in the United States and overseas. These wreaths are donated by families like you and placed on veteran’s grave sites as part of a national public memorial service that’s held simultaneously across America and at U.S. Veteran Cemeteries in Europe, the South Pacific and Asia.
The Wreaths Across America main ceremony will take place in Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, VA at 12 Eastern on Saturday, December 15th and all across the United States of America, Europe, South Pacific and Asia. The local ceremony will take place on Saturday, December 15th at the Field of Valor in Llano Cemetery at 11am. Llano Cemetery is among over 1,400 cemeteries in the country participating and the only cemetery in Amarillo taking part in the event.
Wreaths Across America Day is a day to Remember, Honor, and Teach. Wreaths are laid to remember our Veterans and the sacrifice they have made and as each wreath is laid the name of the Veteran is said out loud.
The actual laying of the wreaths will take place Friday, December 14, at 4:00 p.m. Llano Cemetery staff and volunteers will begin laying of the wreaths purchased for our Veterans. If you would like to help then join the staff and volunteers at that time in the Filed of Valor.
