Isn't it just a kick in the bottom when a holiday falls on a work night? I mean especially one that green beer is involved?

St. Patrick's Day falls on Sunday. So for us "Irish for a Day" folks we may not be an expert in the partying like you true Irish. So if you over indulge just a bit. Here is some advice that may be able to help you.

If you do feel terrible Monday morning here are some tips to calling in sick.

Keep it brief. Don't go into full details. Less is more here. If you explain the details of your sickness it may add more suspicion to your story. Give a little detail but don't go overboard.

Make sure you let them know that you know the timing is bad. Everyone knows it is the day after St. Patrick's Day. Your boss knows that too. So NOT mentioning that fact may be suspicious.

Make sure you only tell people on a need-to-know basis. Make sure, of course, that you follow the policy of your company. Tell the ones who need to know. Your boss and people in your department.

If you are feeling bad, but not horrible, maybe offer to be available by email, phone call or a text. If you really are feeling legitimately horrible then don't offer this.

If you call in sick on Monday be prepared to bust your bottom the rest of the week to make up for it.
