The moment you hear that the pools are closing, that's when you know summer is officially over. The magic is fading, and won't be back for another year.
What Really Signals Summer’s End in Amarillo
The end of pool season in Amarillo is this month. Two pools will be closing for the year, and another will be adjusting its schedule to give everyone a little extra time to soak up some sun.

Southeast and Southwest Pools in Amarillo will be having their last days on August 10. In case you don't have a calendar handy, that's this upcoming Sunday.
Thompson Park Extends to Labor Day
Thompson Park will be adjusting the pool schedule to give everyone a little bit more time to catch rays and cool off. Thompson Park Pool will be open only on weekends from August 11 to September 1.
If you are hoping to spend some time at the pool for Labor Day Weekend with friends and family, Thompson Park Pool will be open. After Labor Day, you'll have to wait until next year.

Hanging out at the pool is one of the best parts of the summer. Lying out by the water and then jumping in to cool off while spending time with friends is part of what makes this time of year so great.
Soon we'll all be back to the hustle and bustle of the school year. The holidays aren't far away. Before then, we still have a few chances to unwind and soak up some rays in Amarillo. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate.
