This year is no different. There is a bill that has been introduced that would kick daylight saving time to the curb for good in the Lone Star State. It's SB 64 and it comes with a couple of unique conditions.
Legislation Introduced In Texas To Take Down Daylight Saving Time
The first thing to know about SB 64 is that it would make it so that standard time is observed year-round in Texas. No more having to remember to set the clock on your stove ahead or back an hour.
The second thing it would do is create the possibility for a referendum if the federal government ever made it possible for states to observe daylight saving time year-round. Texas voters would be allowed to head to the ballot box and choose standard or daylight saving time.

There have been multiple studies showing the problems presented by daylight saving time. It supposedly increases the number of car accidents, risks of heart attack and stroke, and a spike in mood disturbances has been observed. Imagine that...losing an hour of sleep makes people grumpy. Who would have thought?
It remains to be seen if SB 64 will become law in Texas, but if it does, we could finally see the end of daylight saving time.
