We all hear how horrible the time change can be. Some people absolutely hate it. I am one of them that like both times we do. They both serve their purpose for me. In the spring when we spring forward yes we lose an hour. I get that. We also know that summer is just around the corner.

We also know that it stays lighter later so that we get to accomplish a lot more stuff. Now here we are we gained an hour over the weekend so we got an extra hour of sleep. That feels great. We also can train our internal clock.

I loved the fall back time change because I could convince my daughter that it was time to go to sleep way before it really was. She saw that it was so dark so she didn't argue. Of course that all changed when she could start to tell time. It was great while it lasted.

We should be the same way. We need to trick our body to go to sleep earlier. I mean we see it's dark and we genuinely start to feel tired. Don't fight it. It sure may make it easier for you to get the sleep that your body so desperately needs.

There are a lot of things that get messed up if you don't get enough sleep. We find it a lot harder to focus. We may see our work slack a bit. Do you notice that when you start to feel sick it usually starts because you are way behind in your sleep? You have had so much to do and so little time.

Getting sick is your bodies way of saying slow down. Once you do you end up making a much faster recovery. Another problem with lack of sleep is that we end up making poor decisions. We end up grabbing food we know is bad for us and we don't necessarily care. We also may not think other things through like we should.

So take this opportunity while it is starting to get darker earlier to slow down. Take it as a chance to say "hey tonight I am going to get to bed a bit earlier." Your body will thank you for it.
