The one that stood out the most and the one we just knew would end up winning of course, was the Amarillo Sod Poodles. Minor League Baseball teams are notorious for having crazy names. They always have had names that stood out. That is why we just knew the Amarillo Sod Poodles would win.

That was also before we ever knew what a sod poodle was. We as a city didn't know that sod poodles are prairie dogs. Yep, I'm still not sure that I buy that but hey why not. We had a team and we had a name.

We have won things over the years. Our first season in 2019 we won the first half of the season. We also won the second half. In our Inaugural Season we also won the championship and had nice rings to show for it.

We also won best ballpark that season. Oh and then last year happened. We didn't get to see the Sod Poodles take the field. Thanks a lot Corona Virus. We, though were able to have Collegiate Ball so that baseball was able to happen. It was great to have something to do last season.

Here we are back in 2021 and the Amarillo Sod Poodles are still racking up the awards. We did not win best ballpark this year but I do think that a recount should have happened. I really do. We did get an honor in USA Today that gave us Minor League Baseball's Best Nicknames.
