I hear the scuffle on the street. Did you get your vaccine yet? Are you getting it? Which one are you getting? People are posting their vaccination card all over social media. It's kind of like the day you go to vote. You want everyone to know that you got it.

I am still in the process of deciding when and where to start my process. Am I going to head to the vaccine clinic at the Amarillo Civic Center? Am I going to make my appointment at United Supermarket, Walgreens or Walmart? There are so many choices. My daughter and I had a long discussion about it this weekend. Now that we both qualify we wanted to talk about it.

Are there things that you shouldn't do when you go to get your vaccine? Are there things that could hurt you? Are there the things that can make it work better? This was part of our discussion.

I read that you shouldn't take over the counter medicine before your shot. I read that it could actually interfere with the results. Of course after you go and get your shot all is fair. If you need Tylenol or something like that have at it. You may have some symptoms that you will benefit from popping an Advil or something.

What if you need another vaccination. Can you kill two birds with one stone and get them all done at the same time. It probably wouldn't be the best idea. There is not a lot of info on how the vaccine plays well with others. So it is best to wait a couple of weeks just to be sure.

Of course one of the most important things is to stay hydrated. Keep that water flowing. It is important on any day but especially right after you get your vaccine. There are some people who develop a slight fever. If that is the case with you then you may end up sweating more. So you need to keep those fluids up. Grab another glass of water.

I know it is also sometimes hard to keep up with all of this information you need as an adult. You need to be careful not to lose your vaccine card. All important documents like that you should at least snap a photo of it. Make sure you email it to yourself, save it in your photos, even save it in your notes. You can never be too safe and you may need that information later on. So save, save, save.
